What is Christmas after all without the customary tree decoration, gifting and an abundance of eggnog! The traditional Yuletide drink is made in homes around the world and perfectly exemplifies the spirit of the Holiday Season. Warm, comforting, sweet and delicious, there is no better way to celebrate the holidays with your loved ones than sharing a pitcher of eggnog to warms your insides. If you want to go the whole nine yards and celebrate a truly magical Christmas, an evening of laughter over eggnog is just what you need.

Here are two easy ways you can serve up a mean batch off eggnog at home.
Serves: 6-8 people
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

The Classic Old Fashioned Eggnog
2 cups of milk
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of cream
5-6 large eggs
1/2 cup of whipping cream
Fresh nutmeg
1 to 1 1/2 cups of liquor of your choice

1. Start by separating the egg whites and egg yolk in two bowls. Cover the egg whites with cling film and refrigerate for later.
2. With the remaining egg yolks, whisk in sugar until the mixture is cream and smooth. It should resemble a lemon-yellow shade.
3. Into the mixture, gently whisk in cream, milk and the liquor of your choice. You can use bourbon, brandy, rum, cognac, vodka or any combination of these liquors. Once the mixture is ready, cover it with cling film and store it in the refrigerator for a few hours.

When serving, whisk the egg whites with an electric hand or stand mixer until it becomes frothy with stiff white peaks. Add this foam mixture to the rest of the eggnog mixture and fold gently. Transfer the eggnog to a pitcher and serve with a freshly grated nutmeg garnish.

Family Friendly Non-Alcoholic Eggnog
3 cups of milk
1/2 cup of sugar
1 cup of cream
1/2 cup of whipping cream
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
5-6 medium eggs

1. In a large pan, combine the sugar, milk, and cream and cook it over medium heat. Stir occasionally till you see bubbles forming around the edge. Do not boil.
2. Stir in 1 cup of the hot mixture with the separated egg yolks in a large bowl and add it to the saucepan again. Add vanilla extract to the mixture. Cook this for about 8 minutes.
3. Place the saucepan in a large bowl of ice water for a few minutes while stirring continuously and transfer it to a pitcher. Cover the pitcher and store it in your refriedgerator for a few hours.

Before serving, beat the whipping cream until it becomes foamy and developed soft peaks. Transfer the eggnog mixture into the serving bowl and fold the mixture gently. Garnish this with freshly nutmeg or hazelnut, candy canes and marshmallows!
